I recently got broadband at home. I have a relatively new laptop with wireless capability and its working grand on that. However the home PC (dell dimension) is about 4/5 years old and has no wireless card or ethernet port. I see there are a number of different solutions but prices seem to vary a bit for example would something like this:

USB 10/100 Ethernet network LAN adapter to RJ45

do the same job as this?:

    Netgear WG111 Wireless 54Mbps USB 2.0 Adapter

I have also seen a wireless USB one (€41) and an usb adapter that ethernet cable plugs into (€46) in Maplins.

What do people recommend and wheres the best place to go?

Grab a cheap PCI nic card for €5-10 and install it in your comp, dead easy 'n cheap ;)

I'd also say get a PCI Network Interface Card [PCI]. You just open up the PC and slot it into, well, a slot. Screw it in and replace the cover. Then you can boot up and install the driver.

You're better off avoiding those USB-RJ45 adapters.

My advice too, grab a PCI network card, cheap as chips and rock solid.

Yeah I've seen those network cards too but I wouldn't be at all confident about having to open up computer and install it myself - not that tech savvy.
Has anyone used this from eircom (€35):

    wireless usb adapter
