“UFC ain’t sh*t,” he said. “It ain’t but a fad. Anyone can put a tattoo on their head and get in a street fight.” He singled out UFC poster boy Chuck Liddell for an extra overhand right. “We should put Liddell against a good heavyweight, under Mayweather Promotions, and if Chuck wins, then I’ll give him a million dollars out of my own pocket.” PBF then shoe-shined all MMA fighters. “These are guys who couldn’t make it in boxing,” he said. “So they do (MMA). Boxing is the best sport in the world and it’s here to stay.”

War De La Hoya!!!Kick Mayweather's ass

Ah yes, the old knock another sport to defend your own. :D

What good would it be putting Chuck against a heavyweight boxer? The poor boxer would get his legs kicked off.

Oh, Mayweather meant in a boxing match??? Might as well put Mayweather in a Marathon. Different sports folks.

The usual to be honest. I'm pretty chuffed Mayweather knows who Chuck Liddell is.

Chuck is extremely well known in the States. Household name at this point.

    :
Dragan a top boxer would whip chuck-kicks or no kicks in a stand up fight as in mma he mainly boxes anyway and not to any major boxing level-i would say the top boxers from middleweight up would have no problem with him standing up-chuck would go for a takedown though as he is known as a capable wrestler..MMA is a fad at the momemt but i think it will last the long haul, wait and see though..Boxing will be around either way.

Personally i tend to not get in arguments over the internet about what sportsman would beat another sports man. ;)

However, i have enjoyed your blanket statement.

Mayweather had no class at all. I watched a clip of him at a press conference and it was cringe worthy - regardless of what hes like as a sportsman Ive little or no respect for him as a man.

Chuck on the other hand - although he can seem a bit boring does com across an affable down to earth kind of guy (this despite his success)

When I saw the early UFCs, I thought one of the major points to them was to settle this type of argument ("who'd win in a fight, a ninja or a kung fu expert?" etc.) If a boxer thought they could beat an MMArtist, could they not sign up for an MMA fight and try, using only their boxing skills? They wouldn't be stopped from using any boxing techniques, would they? If they didn't want to get into a grappling situation, how about K-1 MMA type rules?
I think it would be cool to have more boxers in MMA, really enjoyed seeing Yosuke Nishijima fight Mark Hunt in Pride.

I dont think its a matter of a boxer v an mma fighter, but more of a boxer against a below average boxer-remembering that this is chucks number 1 skill-Top boxers wont do Mma because the money is much better in boxing so when boxers are seen now there usually not good enough to make it in the boxing world, mma is an art now and not boxer v bjj etc..its kickboxer with bjj against bjj with boxing etc.. if top boxers learned sprawls and basic bjj i think they could be major players in mma but its just not worth there while-The other thing is, most arts dont compete at high aggression levels so its good for them to do mma where as boxing is always aggressive so this is catered for if thats thats what your looking for-Mayweather is a big mouth anyway so i would not worry about what he say's-He is just giving free advertising to UFC anyway.

Yep, that's exactly why Mayweather's not volunteering to jump in the cage with Chuck.

I think Mayweather seems to be judging Chuck's strikes against traditional boxing technique and stance. In UFC 1 Royce showed Art Jimmerson exactly how useless boxing techniques are when an opponent can use kicks and take-downs.

For Chuck to jump in the ring with a top class boxing light-heavy he would undoubtedly need to modify his training but some MMA fighters have winning records as pro-boxers.

But basically the whole argument is stupid because they're both such different sports.
