Im finishing my job on Thursday and have a week off before I start my new job the Monday week.

Anyone know if I can claim the dole for that one week? I know its a bit scabby but feck it I pay enough tax every month so I reckon im entitled to some of it back? If so what do I do?

Go to your local social welfare office, talk to a fat woman with an attitude problem who'll deny your request, press the issue, spend several weeks filling in the wrong forms, going back to the office, fill in some more different, equally wrong forms, lather, rinse, repeat, recieve your paltry sum in 6-8 weeks.

Or dont bother. Thats what I'd recommend.

How much do you even get these days? 100euro? I'll be doing nothing else next week i may as well try and get some free money.

And 100euro is a fair few quid if your smashed!

Plus you probably won't get paid for 3 of the days..if you even qualify (Normally, if you leave a job voluntarily, you don't).

you forgot to mention the beard.

165.80 was what the dole was before last budget, dont know if it changed.
your probably wasting your time looking for it seen as how your not actually in the "available for work" section of society, your just waiting to start a job. i might be wrong though

Sure yeah you're entitled to it, but it's an awful lot of hassle for just one week. Unless you're really broke then I wouldn't bother to be honest. You're treated like a criminal in the dole office.

The rate is now €185 a week max, there's another lower rate as well, not sure how much that is. You probably wouldn't see the money for the best part of two months though!

    No.

If you voluntarily left your employment, you're not entitled to claim the dole for nine weeks.
