ps3 wifi range?

I was wondering how good the wifi range was on the ps3. My apartment building has a common cable modem for all units to share (suprisingly its not overly congested). The TV is out of range for some pcmcia cards with poor antennas and some usb wifi adapters, although my mobile works from there its on the border.

I would like to connect it to the TV so my flatmate can play too, I plan on at some point installing a usb DVB receiver (linux compatible) to get more tv content, as well as making it a pvr. And of course making it a VoIP capable phone system with freeswitch.org. Worst case I hook it up to my computer which has a nice 30 inch monitor (bigger than the TV and better resolution) but that would force anyone wanting to play to go into my room, which I may not always want as much.
