Is checking this flop a bad idea? Villain isn't bad or crazy or anything, TAGish with an extra helping of aggression. (24/20/2.5 over 80 hands)

I think checking the flop is good here, as the only thing calling any bet i make is a better hand, besides maybe JJ? right? Guess I have to fold to his bet?

Its just I've been seeing a lot of these kind of flops and I would usually have a pop at them, just didn't think it was right here... I would be perceived as a TAG at the table also.

What about PF? any bet sizing mistakes?

    Any comments appreciated...

Checking is definitely bad. You still have no idea where you stand, and have no idea of his hand/range other than it was decent enough to call the preflop raise with. He's now put in a roughly pot-sized bet which could mean a ten or a king. If he had air, he'd prob bet a bit more......if he'd a monster, maybe a bit less.

I wouldn't be able to find a call here, although to be fair it's probably the worst possible flop for you (Other than AAK). You could conceivably stick a raise in there (to find out where you really are) but personally I'd throw this away. Shoulda bet out at the flop.

    Folding > Raising > Calling.

Edt: Preflop seems o.k. Maybe could have made it about $7-$8, but it's not the worst play in the world.

    no, checking is standard.

prob should make it a bit more f if you're gonna raise.

check calling is reasonably ok. As is betting. Betting probably better in this case because people never believe that you hit a paired board and plus FD is there.

Now call and c/f the turn.

Ok, thanks for the help. I think my main mistake was preflop, shoulda made it more alright. I folded the flop after his slight overbet (12.10 into 11ish pot).

Even though his bet seems like a bluff to me, his standard 3 Bet calling range cannot be that wide open, I think, that I am ahead here very often.

    Worst flop ever!

Pok3rPlaya, you say to bet out partly because there is a flushdraw here, this is not to protect against to flushdraw right? it is to make my opponent think I am trying to protect against the flushdraw? or am I just way off in my thinking?

Because I check here, my opponent says well if he had anything he would try protect against the FD...

    Cheers!

I doubt your opponent is capable of thought on that level. Basically I think you should bet because you need to protect a bit against the FD. Thats only a small part of it though. The main reason you should bet is because crap like 88/77 sees the paired board and thinks "hey look paired board so less chance that he hit it he must be bluffing I call" and you wanna get value from them hands.

Yeah, I meant to say something about that Valor, we are not deep so it's a push or fold to this bet, right? I've got like 22-23 left behind...
