    From personal experience, anything that has a "standard" controller chip on it (for example, an NEC one) will be absolutely fine - as long as they're fully EHCI/OHCI compliant (it should say so on the box). I think the only real one to avoid is anything that uses a VIA chip - they certainly never worked for me in mine. The standard controller types shouldn't need drivers - just "plug and play".

    If the firmware on the quicksilver hasn't been updated now would be a good time.

    Only issue I had was that I needed to reset the pram using the button beside the battery on the logic board, otherwise the Mac wouldn't boot at all !

    Otherwise as Gadget says any OHCI card (I used a €35 Belkin card from PC World) should work.

    Thanks guys.I needed to expand the capabilities as a lot of new gear of course works a lot better on usb2, also I'm running out of sockets on my hub.
