Is there really a need for another forum? Obviously ill join it but couldnt we just have a few threads on this to save some time and to keep in contact with anyone who is not a member of the I.A.A or who cant become one???

Well ideally we wouldn't be reliant on boards to keep in contact with people about the IAA, etc., but as it so happens this is where the IAA was actually conceived, and this is the main avenue for getting new members, so we need to use it for now. You don't have to be a member of the IAA in order to join the forum, it's just a place to discuss it. At the moment we're sending boardsies to the IAA site, and people on the IAA site to boards (so we're not leeching off the site), but hopefully once the word spreads a bit more and we get properly established, the IAA site will get more traffic. It's not really practical to be reliant on another site over which we have no control, in order to keep in contact.

You also dont need to be a member of the IAA to play airsoft in Ireland. I think you should probably have pointed that out there.

I didn't think it was necessary since it wasn't asked or implied..... or relevent

I've done my bit for the IAA forums and added some spam. Registered a while ago and would prefer using that forum to this one, purely because it's faster and more reliable.

Have you not gotten any benefit speed wise since the transfer over to the new boards.ie servers? My pages load instantly. It's some novelty. Hopefully it keeps up.

The IAA forum does need some love though. I keep meaning to post over there.

have they moved over to the new servers yea? i know they moved location but didnt think they'd put in the new servers yet...

the iaa forum is grand, but most people just tend to come here i think because it's where all the activity is at...

I thought they had? Well, whatever they've done my boards experience is now truly broadband. At last.

That downtime really annoys me. For some reason I seem to be online trying to post whenever it happens.

Would have thought 4-5am would be a better time.

At the moment, it's hard to tell from home since I'm using NTL's stoneage broadband. But from work, boards.ie was always very slow, but the IAA site was fine. I'll check tomorrow when I'm back in work to see of boards is beter now. I didn't notice that they had moved to new servers.

As if! I don't really get any privileges at all. Wheres MY custom avatar? Huh?! *Shakes his fist at The Man*

It's only worked fast since they mentioned changing over to new servers. Therefore I thought everyone would have felt an increase. Maybe not.

*Sends out a big Nelson Muntz HAW HAW! to all the slow posters* ;)

It's something along the lines of €50 a year. Unfortunately way outside my student budget!

What if I told you that you got access to the 'Adult' forums as part of your subscription? Does it come inside you budget now? :p

I'm pretty sure you have to go into user control panel and turn them on. I wasn't viewing them myself for months. Thought it was firefox. Turned out to be my own ignorance :D

getting this topic back on topic.....

If you want to develop airsoft, you need your own space = the IAA forum

Boards is not capable of giving you what it need, you need to be able to admin your board, not just mod it. Boards is grand for general info, but if you are getting techinical, use your own forum.

That is just my 2 cents.
