I'm gonna be interrailing aswell. Gonna live like a bum so I don't spend a whole lot. Or at least to save it all for booze ;)

Rosskilde is a good music festival (amongst others), there's also the staple ones of Reading and Glastonbury in the UK.

Interrailing is said to be great fun, and many people have gone on their own or with a couple of others.

Last summer I went to Germany, worked in a bar in Frankfurt for world cup, went to Spain for a week, then Berlin for a month.
About 3 years ago I went to Edinburgh, and did various jobs.
This summer I'm finished college and heading to the States for a month, then going to Dubai for a year!

No plans yet, too hot in central Illinois so might try and escape back home for a while. I'd love to go to Germany again, was there for my honeymoon and fell in love with the place.

Trip around Europe is soooo passé, take a trip around ireland! Visit the festivals like the Galway arts festival, rose of tralee, cats laughs...there's so much on in this country, don't just leave these great events to tourists from outside!

That's really good advice, people don't realise how many great things there are to do here.

Yeah me and the guy I'm sharing the apt with this year both thought of doing this independantly. What makes it better is you don't have to take the whole summer you can work and then go to one, or a few, or just hit bank holidays, there are loads of ways of doing it, although my fave is still to get a camper van and live up to the ward name for a few months!

    Week away with the lads.
    Week away with the lady.
    Plenty study for FE1's.
Trip away for a couple of months after October.

Defo see more of Ireland. Above is Achill Island where i spent two days this weekend! Gorgeous place and cheap pints!

Would love to see more of Ireland alright, it's a great idea for a holiday. Never been to Donegal and would love to see more of Mayo and Galway and go hiking in Kerry so that's high on my list! Didn't really get out of the country much last summer though coz of work experience for college.

Would love to go to Iceland but it's so expensive! Anyone ever been? Was thinking about Sweden, been there a few times and loved it and would love to go back. :)

Did the whole working in Canada thing the summer before last, and had a really brilliant time I'd reccomend it to anyone! Canada is a really nice place too.

It will be winter time over here. Might try to get a bit of time of work and check out Queenstown and the rest of the south Island. I was planning on going to back to America this year, but turned the job down last week.

I worked in the concert/event scene in Ireland and England for a few years. Left that last year for something different. Now working in a great bar in Auckland CBD. I almost went back to America to work at a summer camp, I have spent a couple of summers there before. Love the place. Finding my feet here in NZ, great country. Tempting to look for residency after my visa expires.

Some of my friends did that last year while others did the interrailing thang. Guess which worked out twice as expensive for half the time - yep you guessed it - Ireland!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 326 ✭✭Paulj

There's some savage places to go around ireland...head off to Achill as a previous poster said, or Lahinch in Co. Clare or Dunmore East in Co. Waterford. Bring a tent, supplies for a bbq, a guitar and a crate of beer. Just make sure to clean up after yourself!!
