Registering a .com domain and forwarding e-mails

I am considering registering a .com name with http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/default.asp

It states on that website half way down on the left in the Free Extras section, 'FREE! Complete Email', so would I be correct in thinking that once I register my .com name that any e-mails sent to my .com name will automatically be forwarded to my free Yahoo e-mail account, i.e. once I nominate my Yahoo account as the e-mail address to which e-mails are to be forwarded?

I don't have to pay extra for hosting or e-mail forwarding...?

Usually you can control your domain and email through a control panel but it really depends on the webhosts wrig. Either way it's not hard to setup email forwarding.

To be sure i'd just send them a quick mail.

I bought two .com domains from them last month (65 euro each for 10 years) and they seem to be best price and service. As for GoDaddy mail, there is several options. The main ones are mail forwarding to gmail, hotmail, etc.. and use the GoDaddy server. For example, if you buy MyName.Com, then you get http://email.MyName.com with a web client or use your own POP3 email client to download emails from it.

You can setup up to 100 email aliases, but only 1 free email per account. I think - and I am open to correction anyone - that the free email is for 1 year, and you have to pay to renew, even if you have paid for 10 years on domain.

You also get free domain forwarding (masked and unmasked), if you don't want to pay for there hosting service.

All can be accessed from there control panel client, which is easy enough to use. Check out the help pages first, its all there.

I really just want one e-mail address for my domain name such as info@whatevernameiregister.com and then for e-mail sent to this address forwarded through to my free Yahoo e-mail account.

If I'm only using one e-mail address I wonder if I have to pay another fee for the second year on top of the $8.95 fee?

In case you're interested, there's also another low price domain site which appears to be well thought of. It's http://www.namecheap.com

Maybe use ZoneEdit.com for email forwarding? When you register with ZE, they'll give you a pair of nameservers to use for your domain. They offer forwarding etc too, and it's free. Of course, you need to buy a domain first.

What's masked and unmasked mean?
