    Hi all,
Hope this is in the right catagory, couldnt really tie it down elsewhere but Mods please move if somewhere better.

I am looking at installing a CCTV recording system in a house which i own and is empty as we will be demolishing it soon. There tend to be undesireables around so this is just to keep an eye around the place from afar.
I am looking at this system in Maplin :
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=36351&TabID=1&source=1&doy=2m4

It is €245 without HDD or cameras but i can pick up cameras including delievry on ebay for about €30.
I know i could get a card for a PC to do the same but i cant leave a PC in this building but i can hide this box.
Just wondering if anyone has used this or a similar one on a budget and how well they work?
    Thanks
    Gibo

Have to say, that looks like a pretty decent bit of kit.

Could you report back on the picture quality of the cameras you get on ebay? I had seen some really cheap ones on there (including night vision ones) and wondered just how good / bad they would be.

    or

I've bought some bits and pieces off both of them, fairly reasonable price wise, and a good range. The first one, y3k, do some decent bundles, including DVR's, camers, all wiring and power supplies.

Just be careful with €30 cameras on ebay, the quality and resolution may not be the best. Also if it's a disused house you'd want to be looking at infra red cameras I'd say, again it's worth spending the few quid extra on them....
