very hard to get any news on this, I can't believe only 15 were officialy killed if such a big wave, I guess they got warning and there not that many people there, it happened last night and stayed up to catch it on skynews but there was little mention of its had to try to watch the france news 24hr falter over it? little on the blogs too

even the usual excellent wikipedia doesn't seem to gained any pace on the story the best pics were to found on flickr

anyway as australia news sources have the best story and japanese...

My girlfriend is on the east coast of Australia right now. Somewhere in between Cairns and Brisbane I think, can't remember exactly where. She's doing a 3 day sailing trip at the moment, they were told they were expecting a tsunami but obviously they weren't expecting much as they let them sail no problem. They were actually meant to sail out a day earlier but couldn't cos it was raining too hard.

apparently those scenes you see in movies of people stuck on motorway on their way of town with loaded cars happened in australia northern towns!

they must be doing that on regular basis

Nah the general consensus around here (QLD Australia) is that the warnings were excellent, we knew what was happenin at every point along the way, we knew when the wave hit the solomons, we knew when it hit PNG and we were ready for it, now thats not to say that some people up north may have over reacted a bit, but shur ya get that.

mainly people are glad that it was only six inches high when it came ashore at cooktown, me personaly I'd rather look a little silly than a lot dead
