I'm thinking of buying a vintage car for my first car. Have been just browsing for a while but am seriously considering buying one in the next year or two.

Will it be possible for me to get insured on it?

Ask Lyskey Ryan Insurances. I have a '67 beetle as my first car. It's not cheap, but possible.

If you are over 25 and have your own policy on a second car, then you'll have no probs. If you don't have a second car you could get insured, though it won't be cheap. If you are under 25, you could have more issues. Always try to get some quotes before you buy.

    What you thinking of?

First Ireland will insure a classic as your only (ie main car). Im with them, and they will take cars over 20years old as 'classic'. Ok, you wont qualify for the cheap tax going this route, but it is possible to have a classic as your daily driver. Always best to have a back-up car tho ;)
IIRC, First Irelands top mileage allowance is 10000miles/16000kms PA
