    Hi all,

We're about to start building and am wondering if anyone can give me some non-salesman type advice in relation to the solar situation (i.e. the type of advice that is not from someone who wants to sell me their particular products!).

Basically I'd love to know of other user's experiences in terms of the basic type of technology used (panels, tubes, etc), costs I should expect to pay, issues to consider, etc. We're building a 2400 sq ft house, and are going with good quality insulation and a wood pellet boiler. The WPB and the solar system will have to be integrated. Home will have 3-5 people living in it.

    Many thanks in advance,

i do the electric side of things for ufh and solar as part of housewiring .there isn't much integration that i'm aware of really .the solar has its own heating coil on the cylinder and an independent control panel.

    integrated isn't a word I'd use either.
    Solar panels provided hot water.
A WPB provides warm living spaces. The WPB can also provide hot water, but it is not connected with the solar panel which never provides space heating

    Hi,

This How a Typical Solar Heating System Works article might be of interest to you.

I've been on the lookout myself for people with first-hand experience of a solar installation..
