Coloured tabs on Wii Game boxes..

Something i just noticed that i'm curious about.

Was just looking over at my Wii games and noticed a little coloured triangle tab at the bottom of the spine of each box.

The majority of them are green ('Wii Sports', 'Wii Play', 'Wii Points Card', 'Rayman: Raving Rabbids', 'The Legend Of Zelda') but 'The Godfather: Blackhand Edition' is yellow for some reason.

Anyone have any notion as to what they colours represent, and why 'The Godfather' is in yellow? The only thing i can come up with is that it's to distinguish a game with mature content / an age restriction ('The Godfather: Blackhand Edition' is 18+) from games with no restriction on age and content.

Only light I can shed on it is that a friend of mine was brought back a game (Cars) from Spain as a gift, and it had a yellow tab instead of a green one.

As much mature content as Cars has, it doesn't quite match up with the Godfather, so I'm not so sure on the whole age restriction thing. Could it maybe mark out different countries? I don't suppose your yellow tabbed game says El Godfather or El Padrino on the front of it, does it? :p

Nope.. but i did buy it new off Pspdude on Adverts last week so i've no idea where he bought it but it's all in English.

Both 'Rayman: Raving Rabbits' and 'Wii Play' were bought off CDWOW and they've got green tabs.

    Hmmm....

It's got something to do with the languages included on the game disc.

    I got this from Wikipedia:
On European releases, these retail boxes have a triangle printed at the bottom corner of the paper insert sleeve side. The hue of the triangle can be used to identify which region the particular title is intended for and which manual languages are included.

Wham bam, I think that's mystery solved.

Very coincidental, I was only thinking about it earlier today!

I'm sunning myself on the Cote D'Azur at the moment  - what are the chances that a wii game I buy will have an english language feature? Most of our games have french language features on them afaik.

The only different coloured triangle I have is brown for Beyond Good and Evil, the instructions are in Spanish and English. I have Swedish instructions for the GC Warioware and it has a green triangle, but that must have been an accident in the Nintendo factory.

All games discs in Europe are the same I think so they all have a few different languages on them.

I think there are different game discs featuring different sets of languages. I was in the Netherlands last week and any games there featured Dutch as a language, whereas the versions we get here only have English, French, Spanish, German and Italian. Also, I can't be sure, but I think I've come across a Scandinavian version too.
