London v Dublin

I'll graduate from college in a couple of months with a law degree and I am trying to decide what to do in the future. One of the options I'm looking at is qualifying as a solicitor in Dublin, another is doing the same in London.

Both involve filling out applications, attending interviews and hopefully getting a training contract with a law firm. Competition to get a contract is fierce in both places.

Then in Dublin I'd have to do the fe1s. Trainees get paid about 30k while studying at Blackhall and fees are paid. In London there are no entrance exams for the LPC (equivalent of Blackhall Place professional course) and the fees are paid but trainees only get a maintenance grant for the year which wouldn't cover living in London.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the advantages and disadvantages of training in London over Dublin?

    Thanks

Where do you want to live? That, in my view, is the main question.

^^ and you'll end up being paid a lot more in a London firm than a Dublin firm.
