FPS games using a PS controller

I just got a PS3 yesterday, with it I got MotorStorm and resistance. Motorstorm is great but being a mostly PC man I cant play resistance with a PS3 controller. I couldn't hit a thing so I gave up after 10 mins.

You can use a mouse with your PS3, why not with the games. Does anyone know if cod3 is mouse compatible?

I'm mainly a PC player myself, and I have always had trouble with FPSs on the PS1/2, I think it's the PS controller design because I have no problem with FPSs on the Xbox and 360.

The PS controller is flawed for FPS games IMO.

I even bought an adapter from GAME that lets you use the Xbox controller on the PS2. They also have one that lets you use the PS2 controller on the GameCube.

ps3 fully supports kb&m, and sony are letting devs put in the functionality to give users kb&m support, but right now devs seem to believe that putting that functionality in will ruin the online play as well as make things more complicated for some users.

i do know sony are throwing around prototype lapboard type ideas around right now, with killzone branding. don't think it'll get released though tbh...

There is a mouse type thing coming out soon for the ps3, maby that will help. Maby someone else will have more info on it. I just remember seeing it on some site before.

The PS1 had a mouse when Command & Conquer was released on it in 1996. The PS2 had one aswell with a keyboard but only in Japan, I think.

Any USB or bluetooth mouse should work on it now? has anyone tried it with Linux?

A normal usb mouse works in the setup area. Thats why it seems so stupid not to make it work with the fps games. It would be fairly simple I would imagine.

As projectmayhem said, the PS3 does support (supposedly) gaming using keyboard and mouse. In fact, it was one of the things they were advertising that it could do but the 360 couldn't.

Personally I find the controller great for Resistance, for me the set-up is good and intuitive, but I suppose it depends on how used to the system you are. I used to play Timesplitters to death and it's a similar set-up to that. I like it, just takes a bit of getting used to, like anything. I find the Xbox controllers hard to use because I haven't played it that much, but I'm sure once I adjusted I'd find it fine. Maybe console manufacturers should include a 'patience' attachment :P I know I could use one. I threw my controller in frustration yesterday and now I can't find it! Damn wireless!

the playstation controller sucks compared to the x box one and especially when compared to a keyboard and mouse but its still allright to use after a while. Dont give up in the first 10 mins give it a few days and itl become second nature.

You could use a keyboard/mouse with the old xbox saying the "360 couldn't" is a bit silly to be advertising, it's a pc, course it "could"
