    Hi all,

I'm thinking of starting a HTPC media server type project in the next few months.

First things first I need to get a nice case, I've been looking around and have seen a few but not many.
Do any of you know of a site with good HTPC cases?

    Cheers,
    euph

There is an okay review here of the case it touches on most subjects with the notable exception that is noise.

If you plan to use that chassis make sure you get a motherboard that has decent clearance around it as you will need to use a Zalman CNPS 7700 cooler to keep it quiet with the fan speed dialled down to the slowest setting.

Cables for the power supply are going to be a problem given the cramped interior I would suggest using a modular power supply.

To further cut back on cable clutter I would also recommend a SATA hard drive and a SATA DVD drive.

With that you should be able to keep the noise output to a low level at least to the point where you should only hear the unit when there is no audio on screen. Of course the placement of the unit also affects the noise level so if possible I would not place it directly under the TV but that is a personal prefernce.

Try to get a case with decent airflow and avoide 60mm fans if you can.
