Buying a ps3

    I was just wondering if i buy an american version of a ps3 will it work in ireland and do american versions of the games work here.If anyone know of site that sells em cheeper than here could you post em up :P

    Also does anyone know when a good time would be to wait to get a ps3 until the price goes down

    PS3 games will work on consoles of any region and an American PS3 will work just fine here, it takes a standard kettle power lead.

    However, PS2 games and Blu Ray movies are region locked so they won't work on an American machine if you were planning to use them. Also I'd be fairly weary of buying something like that from the US in case it breaks, as happened with mine but it was solved with a five minute trip to Tescos for a replacement :)

    its likely that the site operators dont know/care what the 'proper' term is and just put whatever they felt like.

    On a side note, did you get your ps3 yet? I was gonna order one from newegg tonight (afaik they dont do international shipments, it was going to be delivered to a friend in the states). $600 (USD) is the best price I have seen for the 60gb (both newegg and walmart are the same price). Well $600 new from a reputable seller ... videogamesplus.ca is about $650 (USD) for the ps3.

    for those too lazy to goto xe.net $650 USD is about 485 EUR - sure beats the 700EUR advertised price I have seen in local shop windows (I thought it was supposed to be 600EUR MSRP ...). Why that is like getting 4 games free, or an aer lingus special to NY to pick it up making VAT issues easier.
