    hi,
ch4 and e4 have disappeared from ntl basic on us during the week.
has this happened to anyone else? i live in d11 by the way.
i rang ntl to see if maybe it was due due to ch4 and e4 going digital or something like that, but they said that it wasn't, and that they will send someone out to look at the exterior cabling to the house................i dont think local cabling is the issue tho..............

This happened to me a few weeks ago after they upgraded cable in the area. They stuck a note in the door to say that C4, E4 and Discovery had been moved to different frequencies and needed to be retuned.

Channel 4 and E4 are duplicated on UHF, have you tried those ones? Is Discovery gone too? They could have dropped the band I feeds due to the atrocious reception on them in some areas.

    E4: 471 MHz (UHF channel 21)
    Channel 4: 543 MHz (UHF channel 30)

I can't check it here right now... one of the disadvantages of a shared house.

cheers karsini, had a quick trawl through the uhf frequesncies, and found e4 and discovery, so i'm sure ch4 is there as well. thanks for the help. it sure was nice of ntl to warn us of the change !!!

Same thing happened to me last week. The reason for it was that NTL had upgraded to new cable in the area and the VHF frequencies will now be used for the cable modem return channels - i.e. NTL now support broadband in my area :D

As stated earlier in this thread, the missing channels can be found in the UHF band:
    E4: 471 MHz (UHF channel 21)
    Channel 4: 543 MHz (UHF channel 30)
Also, Discovery is now on channel 34

I checked the status of my local node(Rathfarnham) and it's return path to the headend and there isn't one broadband customer on it yet.
Contention free broadband:D :D till they start over selling it.

That's the DAB service from 3 Rock on either side of the BBC2 frequency

NTL (Actually UPC) are upgrading the Cable. It's bad cable.

Digital Cable is only other option.

Even at best analogue cable is poor.

Of course having the part of the city with probably the oldest and leakiest cable right beside the transmitter doesn't help either
