Its around the 20th I think...the site is down at the moment. Its a themed event tho, so ammo limits, only allowed one weapon(on semi), etc would apply. Makes it more interesting tho.

Camping and lots of drink is on the cards.

the theme is a sort of, dog soldiers/resident evil theme that the story follows on from the last one.

I've nightvision on the way to test out for it.

Does that mean a team of zombies who have to run out of bushes and grab you?

There are police, SWAT and 'unknown species'. The 'unknown species' will be unarmed and have to physically grab the police/swat and bring them to the ground to get a 'kill'.

I so want to go, but i'm away in england all that weekend

Well its not that they have to bring them to the ground coz that could get messy (ANDY),

Its more a case of making contact as far as i know.

Well since they actually went so far as giving a warning of 'physical contact will be a part of this game', I'd tend to think it's a bit more than a game of tag.

I'm not suggesting rugby tackles or anything....but I imagine it won't be as simple as walking up and tapping someone on the shoulder....especially when that person is going to be firing directly at you at point blank range!

You could be completely right though....perhaps it's just the evil, vicious and pyschotic part of me is expecting some bones to be broken!

I think they might just mean that the zombies might get a bit over zealous with the acting, and people that may get disturbed by strangers pretending to eat their arms should look elsewhere ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,397 ✭✭✭Evolute

im assuming they mean that people will be running at you full sprint and if u get knocked down well u were warned so nobody go complaining

Any of you guys coming up for this? Should be good craic if nothing else. :P

There's a normal shoot on Sat, then the Bad Moon Rising event on Sat night. Overnight camping and a BBQ on the go. No shoot on Sunday though.

Transport to Predator is a problem for most of us. Not too many have shown interest as yet, and we would need 10+ people to share the cost of a minibus.

Oh, and there's the whole 'I don't have a tent' side as well.

Well enjoy yourselves, i'll be in work all this weekend so cant maqke it,
also we asked last time about it when we were up there
The zombies have to grab you to get a kill, with both hands i think and i believe they have to be shot 3 times to take them down, if they get hit once they are supposed to "stagger back a few feet" b4 coming at you again.

was a great night, good craic. was nothing like a normal shoot in anyway.
we had to crawl through the bushes in search of ammo to defend ourselves with zombies EVERYWERE.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

sounds like a bit of a laugh alright, did you get those night vision binoculars/scope in time for it?

no, no night vision, they were sold out but it just added to the effect, a flash of shodow here and there was all you got as a warning before all hell broke loose. and the radios were all linked so you could hear the gunshots in the differant parts and people screaming when "zombies" attacked them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,674 ✭✭✭Skatedude

Sounds like a lot of fun, i'll have to get time off to attend the next one

Night vision rifle scopes are illeagle here and all affordable ones (ie anything sub €1000)are rubish id keep both of those in mind before getting one.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

all affordable ones are not actualy rubbish when you think about how often they'd be used and what they will be used for. its not like i would be relying on them in a real warzone.

it wasnt a rifle scope i was getting coz they are very expensive but a monocular or binocular type.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 8,679 Mod ✭✭✭✭Rew

Iv used them all from the €99 to the €5k+ military units. Cheap ones are dificult to focus and the image quality is very poor. They produce very "flat" images making it hard to tell how far away somthing is or distinguish objects from the backround. The intensifaction is pretty low as well and an IR source is normally needed. An active IR source produces a dull red light which can be seen in the dark (and shows up like a spotlight to other NV gear). Field if vision tends to be quite narrow so you can miss someone coming up on you only a few meters to one side.

If your really really want one id try somones out before droping cash. In a fasty pace game it will get you no where, defencive position or recce you may get some use out of it. A wortyhwhile investment if you do get one is a tripod and IR cyalume light sticks. The IR light sticks don't emit any visable light but show up in the NV gear as bright lights.

Alot of the extras people mention on here are "gucci" gear that will cost alot but in reality do you no good, I reckon your better blowing your cash on BB's and a nice AEG instead of NVG, laser sights, reflex sights etc. The optics on any AEG I saw in HTRA were really ony good for show or long range spoting.

its not costing ME much of anything to be honest and as it would rarely be used im not too fused about it being the best but it will do the job. ive tried this particular one already

    Hi folks,

I thought I would sign up to thank all players who travelled the distance to participate in this event. It totally blew my mind when I realised that some of you guys had hired a mini bus to come up over the border to participate.

I enjoyed the event, it seemed to go as I had planned and that was due to the players of course.

    Q: Night Fight = over 18?

Sounds super cool. Like t have some SplinterCell Type NVG that you can just pull down for Target Finding:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

i had planned on getting night vision but there was none left but having played without it, i think that it would have taken from the expierence completely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

Did anyone walk straight into a tree ect?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

plenty fell over im sure but people wernt running around. its hard to explain, i was nothing like a normal skirmish. it was a story that unfolded as the night progressed. airsoft was just the way to intensify the story. people where moving around slowly and keeping in tight groups of 3/4 watching every sign of movement and listening to where you were goinng and what was around you.
