Why clones are so cheap

As some of you who were at hrta last saturday know, my cyma mp5-j didnt get to see any action at all, getting jammed and emitting a rather nasty noise from the gearbox after test firing before the first game.
So i finally got a chance to open it up this evening and see what happened, one of the gears lost about 1/4 of it's teeth, there were all over the gearbox. Cant remember the name of the gear, but it's the one that actually connects to the piston and pushes it back.
(Edit: the sector gear i think it's called)

It should be noted that I had previously upgraded the barrel and stripped and rebuilt the gearbox (in an attempt to fix a broken semi-auto) before all this happened, so odds are i messed something up which caused this.

Debating what to do now though, should i bother putting more money into this clone by buying a new set of gears? Or just take the plunge and buy a new one.

My birthday is coming up so I was dropping hints about a TM P90, but that's a whole month away...

This is why I'm so cautious about buying clones. I think they only reasons that they are cheaper is that the materials used are of a lower quality, and they the Quality Control process is not as good.

Anyone buying a clone has to accept the risk of the tagger breaking early on in it's life.

yea, im not sure how much to spend fixing it tbh...
i like the mp5 though, so im keen to hold on to it...

within the next few mins im gonna place an order, just currently trying to decide whether to go for a set of gears and maybe a 1joule spring, or a full tune kit

Edit: decided i may as well go for the full tune kit, by the time i added up the gears, new spring and shims with shipping it was $60-70, for an extra 40 you get piston/air seal nozzle/spring guide/piston+cylinder head/tappet plate and bushings... seemed to be worth the extra tbh
