Hi, I want to get one of those printers that you put a memory card into and it prints out your pictures.
I have about €300 to spend but have no idea which ones are good.
    So recommendations would be welcome.

I would advise against the memory card printers, well actually i advise against using the memory card slot - the rest of the printer might be absolutely super. The card thing is just a gimmick, it makes things look convenient but in reality you end up losing most of the advantages of a home printer.

The strength of home printers is that you decide exactly what you want to print and save yourself the trouble and expense of printing the horrible/ blurred/ thumb-obscured shots. You can select which photos to print in camera, but its cumbersome and inconvenient and the small camera display isn't the best way to judge the quality of a shot. You will also have to transfer your digital files to PC anyway if you want to keep them so why not just print from the PC too?

If you really want convenience try using the photo kiosks that let you select the shots to print from the card. Depending on how you use your camera, that may be a better option for you.

But if you really want a home printer then make full use of it by completely ignoring the memory card function!

Well then it doesn't sound like she would be doing a regular amount of printing. I would think the minilab at a chemist should be perfectly fine for her needs. They usually have the memory card kiosks there these days too.

True the chemist or other outlets offer really cheap easy to use printing facilities, with helpfull assistants.

The little printer with the convenient memory card is an overpriced gimmick the cost of the ink to keep it going is crazy. I was going to buy one but did some research and found that the cost to keep it going in ink far outweighed the convenience that it provided.

I have a photographic printer which I haven't used for 2 yrs as the chemist or outlet is a cheaper option overall. It would cost me at least 40 euros a pop to refill it, not to mention the maintenance and so on. You can get a USB key with a card slot and plug it into some chemists machines, the last place I went to print my photos gave me one to use.

I have an R240 that I use for the very occasional print , and its true , the card slot is a pretty much useless gimmick. You cant see if the picture is properly focussed or not , you always need to go to the pc first , pick the good ones , and put them back on the card .

If I want quality prints , I always send em to the printers , no inkjet can match the combination of price and quality.
