Have a young lad with a birthday coming up. I need to get a Wii but did not expect them to be like gold dust.

Any advise on where to get one would be a help

Ring a few places close to you and ask when the next expected delivery is. Ring on the day and ask them to put one behind the counter for you. Some places will do it. It may take a few weeks, but you should get one...

we had one reserved in Arogs in Dun Laoghaire but didnt need it. You could see if they still have one 2140570 i think, or on their "ring and reserve";) line will tell you if in stock and will reserve it for you if its there.

Have a chance to bring in one from US? Will it work? I assume it will come with 2 pin power adaptor. Where can I get Irish equiv? Tried ebay, no joy. Am I correct to assume no voltage issues, and all games should work?Anything else I should watch out for? Thanks in advance:)

i'm fairly sure games are region locked i.e. U.S. games won't work on European consoles and vice versa. So unless you're gonna import all of your games it won't work.......i think!!!!

Thanks for the tip on Fonthill. Picked one up yesterday for a friend whos been looking for a while. €280 so one of the more expensive places but they were happy to just get one

Virgin won't sell you the console on it's own - you need to get one of their overpriced (imo) bundles.

Game in Liffey Valley had a "fair few" left on Tuesday.
Thing that bothers me is that theyre pushing the PS3 like its the best thing ever(big signs saying PS3 now in stock everywhere) but not one sign to say they have Wii in stock.
Bit of favouritism(sp?) if you ask me.
Friend of mine walked in on the off chance that they had one and was told they had a "fair few" in the back.

Not so sure, my dad bought my brother sponge bob in america and it worked

For the Wii? And played on a European console? Shouldn't be able to, because the Wii is definitely region locked.

Not sure if this is any use to anyone, I was in Smyths in Blanch yesterday and they seemed to have a few Wiis in stock.

Didn't check, but Smyths' website says €270

Best to give em a call if you're going, in case those are reserved or already gone.

Might help someone: picked one up in Smyths Jervis St. this eve at around 5:20 and there were a few left by the look of it. Reckon you'd get one there tomorrow morning...
