I want to get a lump on my body checked out in the hospital to make sure it isn't cancerous or anything, do I have to go to my GP first and get him to set up an apointment in the hospital or can I just ring the hospital up or whatever and make an appoinment directly?

I am afraid that you have to be referred by a GP - when I was being referred to a gastroenterologist for a biopsy I had to get referred via my GP. Good luck.

good to see ya back cathy, hope all is well........

yea you have to get a referral, as the gp will know which specialist to send you to, or what hospital etc etc...if you ring the consultants secretary she will ask for you Dr's name and referral letter anyway.....
