Right i know how to ride but have never owned a bike of my own. Im currently looking into buying something just to get me around.

Im just back from being abroad for ages so im only on my second provisional so im capped at 125cc engine with power rating of 11kW till i get my full licence sorted. But that does not really bother me. Im not interested in a huge powerfull beast. Anything that will get me from A-B with a bit of style and not sounding like a lawnmower comming down the road.

My budget will be around €2000 for a new or second hand.

I was looking around on the net and these two got my attention. What do you guys think:

    Honda Varadero XL125V
    Honda CBR125

    Can't go wrong with a Burgman 125.

bleh... its a beefed up scooter.

Ive been looking into the Honda XL125V Varadero alot since i posted and i am getting attached to it. Looks sweet. Decent amount of speed for a 125.

Now to find a decent second hand one.

Also what would the insurance be on somethink like this. roughly

Honda Cg 125 a very good bike. 4 stroke, easy to maintain and have been around long enough.

Are you sure you are limited to a 125cc engine??

A almost made the same mistake when i got my first ever bike.

Are you on provisional "A" licence or provisional "A1"?

If you're on provisional A1 then you're stuck with 125 but on Provisional A you're not

Just be sure to do your test on a bigger bike or you will only get an A1 licence

Honda Varadero XL125V and Honda CBR125 are good bikes, but slow. Try a TDR 125, there 2 stroke, powerful and only group 2 insurance. The CBR 125 is group if im right?

I just got my 1st proper bike after years of scooters there 2 months ago , the bf managed to find me a 96 CBR 250 for 1750 if I remember rightly and then dropped it in for a service that came to about 200 so I got the "dream bike " for €2,000 and I absolutely love it :) Id definately recommend it , its nice and light and sounds beautiful , Im still coming to terms with that front brake but aside from me being heavy handed with that brake business its all good and definately a nice 1st bike :) Also it looks very nice :)
