Indoor Aerials

I live in Dublin City centre in an apartment and have pretty awful reception, and only rte 1, rte 2 (reception not too bad) and tv3.

I've seen some of these amplified digital aerials in maplin and dixons and was wondering if they are any good?
For instance are they likely to give me access to UK channels, or drastically improve my current reception?

    no

An aerial higher up, at the window, or bigger.

Other than a proper aerial on balcony, loft or roof, this may help on a window sill or top of cupboard (extend with satellite cable):

UK TV needs outdoor mast and big aerials. or a satellite dish
