 ’ve being looking in to the options of buying an English registered 1987 Toyota MR2. Just checked with the VRT office this morning re the cost of clearing it & got some shock. They quote three prices & the guy reckons that most cars come between Average & excellent (Not sure what he called the bands but its basically excellent, average & rough) . In than case, the VRT would be about €1,000 which I think is mad. They classify it as classic/collectable I was informed. The rates are as follows:

    Excellent: €1,250
    Average: €875
    Rough €562

The car appears to be pretty clean so there isn’t a lot can be done to make it look rough. Anyone have any ideas or gone thru’ this?. The car isn’t worth a lot more than the VRT!!!!

    T.

Can you get your hands on a knackered MR2, put the interior, clocks with high mileage, battered wheels, drive it through a muddy field?
    ie make it look rough?

Jesus they only quote online for an MR2 from 1990 onwards - no mention of condition - ran a quote 90 mr2 basic 1.8 100k market price listed as €3934 VRT quote 30% - €1180
As Jim Royle would say "The robbin' bastards!"
