A ska band, then? I don't know too many. The blast crowd like their poppy ska stuff though. Head down to one of their ridiculously over-priced, ill-informed, corporate, no-beer-wtf?, smelly, poo poo gigs some time and see if there's anyone about that is interested in starting something.

There's some mad ska goings on in the lower deck next Thursday night (April 5th) if ya just want to see what the "non blast" scene is like.

This'll probably get me lynched but whats the blast crowd? Not too up on slang.

Finest Ska band in my opinion is OP Ivy.Try them out if you like ska.

Blast is this company who run all ages shows around the country (mainly in Dublin) They charge up on 11 euro into the gigs. Most of the bands seems to be ska although I havent been to a blast gig in.... 6 years I think it is.

The last few Dublin ones have been 10 euro in with a fair few bands playing. Think there was 10 bands at the last one, though not sure. That's for the all ages day time gig. They sometimes then have the same bands playing that night for 5 euro. Common knowledge would suggest that it's just a money making thing and that the bands don't get anything out of it. But the night time gigs aren't as much of a rip off as you'd expect.

I haven't been to that sh!t in about 6 years also. I stopped goin' when they moved it from the music center. ahh the memories, many of the bands were rubbish.

bubble, maybe you should put a post in the bands and musicians forum. you might get more bands replying.

there are a good few ska bands in dublin. the main ones that come to mind are The Upgrades (awesome!) and Chewing on Tinfoil. both of these bands are punk/ska. I don't really know of any popier ones around.
