Live pot limit cash game. Blinds are 1e 3e.

Hand number 1; We are 8 handed. Good Lag player limps utg. I pot to 15 with QhQd. Button (fish) and limpers call.

Flop is 478 rainbow. Limper checks. I pot to 50. Button calls. Limper checkraises to 150. Actions on me. I have 200 behind.

Hand number 2; I am in bb with 9h 9c. UTG raises to 10. 3 callers. I call. Pot is 50.

Flop is 10 8 6 rainbow. Sb checks. Actions on me.. I have 150 behind.

    Hand 1:

Fold. And no need to pot such a dry flop, lead for €35 or so. A good lag player limping under the gun would have a set or even a straight here a lot.

    Hand 2:

Check/fold. I'd never bet into 3 players with 99 here

    1. yeah, probably fold, but I wouldn't be happy with it at all.

    2. check?

    Hand One:
Does the UTG limper do this often? Would he generally only play pots from position? Would ne normally open - raise? Does he ever play AA // KK from UTG // UTG + 2 like this??

From your previous posts on this forum I am guesssing that you have an absolute rock solid image, and it is known that you make huge folds. The fact that you aren't just insta going broke on this board is an indication that Check raise bluffing you would be positive EV.

UTG limper would never play big pairs that way. he makes a standard raise.

LAG knows Im tight but I dont think he'd make a bluff/ semi bluff into me with a smooth caller already.

Hand 1 depends on the villain:

If this is the 4 Aces Galway, there are many regulars who will make this move with an OESD, or OESD with 1 pair, hoping not to go to showdown, and this needs to be factored in to your thinking.

Similarly, if they have flopped a set, they know you have an over-pair, and know you have to fire again on the turn, and by the sounds of it they know you are capable of a big fold, so why the CR, effectively putting you all in?

Trying to get more money in on the flop just seems fishy to me, so probably a fold, but not straightforward.

    Hand 2:
If I am playing 250+ I am happy to bet 2/3 of pot here and fold to resistance.

    Edit:
    Yes I am a fish.

Yep the 4 aces alright. Hand number 1 I folded. I knew the villain in question and by the bet he was telling me had a big hand.

I folded. Button pushed all in and villain called with his set of 7s. Button had A8o.

2nd hand I led for 35. Folded to button this hand pushed for 50. He had q8s. I hit a 7 on turn for the straight.

Just on a side note, I posted the same hands on 2+2 and the advice is a lot different. In fact for hand 1 I believe every poster said to push.

It depends on teh opponent, the way you describe him, it is a fold for me. He could have two pair, a straight or a set in his range.

2 posters and one just repeated what had been said. Hardly a huge sample.

Hand 1 seems a standard fold given your tight image and the button caller. I would echo the comments about your bet size on the flop too 35- 40 seems better to me unless you make bluff c-bets of this size regularly which given what you've said about your own image seems unlikely.

Reason I bet pot is I wanted to extract maximum from button who looked like he was ready to call. I knew I had his range beaten and felt that If UTG had a hand I could get away which I did.

SSNL on 2 + 2 is an utter waste of time.

The sticky with all the best threads is some of the best stuff I have seen written on poker

Sure, most of the forums on 2 + 2 have stickies with great previous threads. However, the general atmosphere and standard of advice in what I have seen there recently is quite bad. There are some great posters, and some worthwile stuff. But there is a lot of rubbish to be waded through first.

Agreed, the signal to noise ratio on twoplustwo is pretty bad but the quality posts that appear make it worth wading through all the ego crap that goes on.
