    hi.
I can't copy any files to dvd. I have used both dvd+r and dvd-r discs.

my laptop's dvd drive says on it that it's dvd r/rw and dvd +rewritable.
can someone tell me what all that means-the impression
I got when I bought I bought my laptop was that it could read/write pretty much any dvd format.

anyway when I put in a dvd the d-drive's name changes from dvd to cd drive.
and when I try to move files to this drive I get an error saying "windows encountered a problem when trying to copy to this folder".

btw do you need some special software to burn to dvd or is it just a matter of copying and pasting (which is what i've been doing).

anyone know what the problem might be?
    any help greatly appreciated.

Nero or CDBurnerXP Pro (free) should do the trick.

Look in the programs for software, it should be there.
You do need it’s specific software to burn a dvd, but it should be on the pc
