we have many green areas in the grounds, cricket pitch, rugby pitch and many squares but there is now nowhere to play football. was playing footie on the rugby pitch today and was kicked off, we were not playing in boots or anything like that, just a bit of a kickabout. This may have come up before but now that the new gym is coming in you need membership to even step inside and they have ruled that the futsol pitch is off limits because of broken windows. Even the local parks are against the crazy idea of playing football(merion square and stephens green). the nearest place is probably the phoenix park. If i am wrong please tell as there isnt enough time to go all the way to the phoenix park.

Nothing new that you aren't allowed to play sports on the grass, don't know why that is but they enforce it pretty well. Can't think of anywhere nearer than Pheonix Park.

Herbert Park is 10 minutes bus/30-35 minutes walk away; that's probably closer than Phoenix park, right? Or there's the physiology square - kinda small, and there's the risk of skulling people on the benches, but that adds to the fun.

mountjoy square has a football pitch

mountjoy is an idea, do they allow football though is the problem. i know its not a new thing but it is new that there is NOWHERE to play and it is very important to get some excercise, now the only way to do so is by paying ~200 euro for the gym.

the square at the physics building is very small for a proper game of footie to get heart rate going etc and you have to get there before the other people who cannot go to the cricket/rugby pitch etc which is very impractical when trying to organise for 10 people and then its in use.

mountjoy square has a football pitch, I'm pretty sure you're allowed to play football on it.

Wasn't there a match on today? Maybe that's why...?

No less than two seperate groups of lads were kicking round rugby balls in the physics garden today... Sitting there on the benches I nearly got whacked by them a couple times. Some girl actually did get clattered. GETTIEFOOK OFF THAT GARDEN YOU TOSSERS

i saw them over there on that green, thats a garden really not a pitch. it wasnt cos of the match that we got kicked off. people get kicked off all the time aparently.

They've always kicked you off playing anywhere. The thing is you can sometimes get away with it if no security goes by/bother to ask you to get off. It's always been pot luck really.
