Might be a stupid question, but i'm just wondering... as have access to both and want something to do in the evenings.
I'd try it first myself but i'd have to buy the engine and wouldnt want to waste money buyin it only for it not to fit.
Anyone done it before or heard of it/seen it done?

My ex had a cbr 250 about 7 years ago, they are a narrower block than the cbr 400 also you would have difficulty with lining up the gearbox sprocket to the rear sprocket also the gear ratios and chain thicknesses are also different.
More importantly the CBR 400 is an up to a 140mph bike and putting that engine into a frame that is designed for a smaller engine your brakes wont be up to it.

front brakes are off '01 CBR 600. rears upgraded. too Last owner fitted them, dunno how he made it work but i checked them against a 600 of the type he said it they were off and they exact same.
Anyway i know it'd need to be upgraded to cope with more power and speed, that's obvious... but what i really want to know is has someone made it fit?

I know a 92 Fireblade engine will drop straight into the CBR600F2 frame, as long as you remount the rad, so this could indeed be possible. I would try this site though, it's run by a lad in Dublin, but has CBR250 enthusiasts from around the world :
