€200 for DNA 180 Engine mounts..reasonable price?

Just got off the phone with Bikeworld. They quoted me €200 to replace the 4 engine mounts on my Gilera DNA 180, and that's just the cost of the parts. I'm no expert in bikes (actually, I'm a newbie novice), but that seems a bit expensive.

I know it's unlikely that anyone here has had to buy replacement engine mounts for a DNA 180, but does this price seem about right, or is it waaaay off?

I really hate this bike now. Clutch acting up, breach in carb manifold, disolved engine mounts, dead battery that wont recharge, new front tyre & a weird issue with all four indicators flashing at once when indicating. And all this in the last month!

Oh, and don't mind my signature...its for the airsoft forum to stop the paranoid members of the forum moaning about my posts all the time.

    Thanks for any advice.

I would first do a search on Google for the part. You might get it cheaper and faster in the UK or on the continent. I learned that with Honda and will always use Dave Silver in the UK. Some Irish main dealers can have a tendancy to take their time and rip you off.

considering how cheap parts are on ebay, I have to say. YES!!! its a freaking rip off. I found a DNA 125 engine mount used for €11
You can also try find what your looking for on here

Thanks. I can't find the parts anywhere online to compare prices. Although I'm not 100% on what the technical name would be. Are they simply called 'Engine Mounts' or is there are more technical name for the parts?

You could be lucky and find a part number on the old parts other than that all manufacturers and suppliers use an inventory system on microfiche or computers. You would have to give the year of manufacture and frame/engine number etc. You might also find a Gilera club site on line with a charter and post your request.

    Thanks.

Still haven't found anywhere that can give me a solid price on new parts.

I'll try City Spares as suggested.

Are you the same person who argued that online shopping is killing local shops, and is responsible for Mountjoy closing? From the Mountjoy thread :

Thats what I have been trying to explain to these "www.online.heads", they go on about how much we have been ripped off in the past by high st bike shops ... You can blame on line purchases ... Mountjoy Motorcycles is closing its doors for good next month

To the OP, it does sound horrendously expensive. I would find an online supplier, and add 30% to that price to get the true Irish retail price. Anyone charging more simply does not deserve your business I'm afraid!

Forgive my ignorance of scooter mechanicals but why on earth would engine mounts need replacing in the first place?

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

I'd imagine (And my imagination is active enough) that the engine mounts have rubber inside, and the rubber has perished.
