€100 freezeout Ballinasloe. 6 left 4 get paid average stack 24000, blinds 500-1000. Hero 7200 SB is dealt 55, BB 30000 has got lucky a bit inexpierienced UTG limps everyone else folds, what to do?

Apologies (it's busy at work and I'm not great at multitasking) UTG was shortstack about 3,500 everyone else folded to me.

Fold. UTG should open push. Logic dictates that he is only doing this with a big pocket pair. As such, there is a percentage chance that the BB will wake up with a hand that has you crushed aswell, and the amount in the pot does not compensate taking UTG on when he has a handrange of 1010+ // AK.

Fold, and open shove any two if folded to you in the next two hands.

How can you advocate a fold.
We are in the SB, it is 500 to call in a 2.5k pot and we have a pair.

call! if BB checks you get a cheap flop,if BB raises you have the benefit of utg making his decision first,if he pushes(seems likely)you can fold and have lost only 500 chips. If utg folds to BB raise i'd get it all in as his range will be wider than utg.does this make sense? This seems like a good spot for you with your shortstack.

Pat is this on every monday night in Haydens? Is it run by pokerevents? is it 100 + 20? How many runners does it normally get? What time does it start? Is the standard really really bad? Is it an all cash payout or are the winners actually getting tickets for something like a 500 freezout which in turn is actually a satellite for some other event? pending certain answers being favourable I might play this next monday night when im home.

Because a lot of the time, the BB (with his big stack) will reraise to either pick up the pot, or to get heads up with UTG. You will have to fold, having wasted 500. The times the BB will just call will allow you to see the flop, but you'll only flop trips 11% of the time, so again you'll be wasting 500.

I agree with LuckyLloyd that folding is best. But I don't think he's correct on UTG's possible holdings. He's inexperienced and I've found that these players will limp with anything that looks pretty, so he could have a small pair, a big pair, 2 picture cards, even suited connectors ! So, you're either a small favourite or a big dog. Factor in the BB, and it's an easy fold.

Yes (but not next Monday some 500 freezout game in Galway on Saturday)
Is it run by pokerevents? Yes
is it 100 + 20? How many runners does it normally get? Yes 25-35
What time does it start? 8pm
Is the standard really really bad? A mix some players win tickets by winning local pub tourneys, but there are some good players there.
Is it an all cash payout or are the winners actually getting tickets for something like a 500 freezout which in turn is actually a satellite for some other event? No 1st two last night got tickets for 500 freezeout which I think is leading to the IO.
Pending certain answers being favourable I might play this next monday night when im home. (not on next Monday night due to the 500 freezeout festival in Galway over the weekend) There is a nice €25 game on in Ballinasloe Golf Club on Friday night, they have the place to themselves and the beer is good. Also freezeout is an apt word in haydens as they don't put the heating on.

Interesting the different points of view. I pushed all in and was called by AQ by the BB, UTG folded and his hand held up afterwards (hit a straight). Do you take the prize money into consideration although only the first 2 were worth winning? I realised after that small pairs in this situation are costing me money as a similar thing happened last week. Thanks for the replies.
