Having slept off a bit of a sore head yesterday, today was the first chance I had to enjoy the goodness that a long evening offers. God it is good! I always forget how cool it is to have light till 8.30pm +. Makes me happy in my pants :D

Anyone got any plans for the summer, now that I'm in a summery mood? :)

Thisll be my first summer in oireland since a long time now, so i'm going to be enjoying it here and go visiting places ive never been. Places like Rathgar and Sandyford and possibly Meath. Not Louth though. nor Cavan or Monaghan :)

Love the fact thats its bright when i get home, to chill out throwing the rugby ball in the park or playing hurling on the beach in Howth or Portmarnock . I'm looking forward to the evening spent walking along the beach at bull island and tormenting the boyeens i live with to buy me ice cream cones with red syrup on top! Yummy! Watching the sun go down red in the sky is also fantastic...full of the joys of spring me!!! Will be going back to Roscommon digging for part of summer and maby head to Chicago for a weeks hols.

First sign of sun today and the girls are already breaking out the skimpy tops...I don't know whether to be turned on, or tell them that march isn't even over yet and its not fcuking summer yet! Although I can't wait for this one, I'm going to try and enjoy it for once after the horrors that are final year exams....

The title of this thread is what I say to every old person to make some attempt at conversation (didn't realise you meant walking)

    In the winters you say
"Isn't it a terrible how dark it's getting?"

Reminds me of home tbh. "isn't there great drying in that day?" "Ah there is surely." etc, etc.

Every year you get it, "Isn't there a grand stretch in the evenings now?" as if it was some sort of surprise! :)

Of course if you live closer to the equator, it can be strange to see it, but we are used to it. :)

not unless you are above the artic circle it gets too dim to sunbath, still at 10pm you might still have enough light.
Its weird though, you go to a night club at 11pm and it feels like the early evening (like an irish 7pm) then you get out a 4am and all the birds are up and it looks like 10am  makes you feel like a wino.

course 20 hours of light is only fun if you dont have to get up at 8am the next day :( the hours of sleep I lose...

It aint very nice at all....Trying to sleep when you come out of the pub at 2:30 am and its completely bright takes a while to get used to for us 57 degree'ers.
Not to mention the corrsesponding 20 hours of darkness in Winter

Yeah, its really only fun if you are at a BBQ/sauna party and chilling outside drinking. Try to bring some kind of cover for your eyes (like those things airlines give out sometimes on long flights), because I have been caught out a few times when I went to places that didnt have good enough (or any) curtains.

only in winter, summers are quite warm over here, most days in may will be close to 25 degrees and in june/july you will get a week or two at 30 degrees. Course the farthest north Ive been in summer is Kaijaani finland, so I dont know about lapland.
