hey just purchased this tv from topvision.lu ... Sony KDL-46W2000 - 46" LCD TV. i know it's a little late to ask but does it display 1080p. i know it accepts the signal but is that what is puts on the screen. it's only costing €2014 so i'd also like to know if i've made a good future proof buy here. really want to know i'm getting the best available. well the almost best available. Or what would you recomend for me my only condition is that 46" is the size i want and i want it to actually display Full HD 1080p not just 1080i. Also in case someone feels like tellin me i dont need that or i wont notice, i refer you to my earlier conditions. Thanx guys i'm really just looking for peace of mind.

1080p according to Sony regarding recommendations to you, academic, purchase made

aye but i can still cancel the order. Recommendations welcome. Or just tell me this TV is fine. Also i checked and it's not clear that the display is 1080p. only the input. There is a difference between accepting 1080p and displaying it. And it only says it supports 1080p signals.

that tv is full 1080p. it has screen resolution of 1920 X 1080 and can display progressive. its full 1080p. are you sure you have bought a KDL-46W2000?? that price is crazily cheap. i know tvs are cheaper from europe but that is far too cheap...
do you have a link to the page??

if that is the tv, then yes you are well sorted and future-proofed. what signal will you be giving it?? it really does need sky hd, lcd's at that size dont look great on anything lesser.

also in ireland that now comes with a free 20" tv. is that included??

Thanks, i just wasnt absolutly sure. i knew the res was 1920x1080 just wasnt sure about the progressive. Really want to have a Full proper HD for future.
www.topvisionshop.com they're german and am able to get VAT off gave me a saving of 1400 euro on the local Sony centre even with postage. dont think there is a free 20" with it though. dont thinks it ud be worth the extra cash either. still though, as a matter of interest how much is the 20" worth. Also buying a DVD player with a HDMI to tide me over til i get a PS3 for the HD movies and as for sky HD maybe in the future.

Hi, i just ordered a set of Canton Movie 101 Speakers, they don't specify delivery time, how long did it take for them to deliver your tv?

yeah had some trouble with order so cancelled and reorder. trouble was my fault. anyway i think i reordered a week ago now and havent recieved yet or any notice i just dont think they have the facility for things like that. Sites like dabs have an automated system i'd guess. Lookin at there site they could invest in some developers cos it's a balls to use compared with other sites. maybe thats how they keep there costs down. also they are slow to reply to emails. I'll mail em again to confirm shipping.

    Hey
I have just purchased the same TV this morning, and decided to do a search for the website and TV and found this post,
Has your TV arrived yet? How was communication with them if any? And did they provide you with any kind of shipping number?

    Thanks for the info

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 somedeed

I ordered the speakers on 03/04, recieved confirmation email next day, no shipping number.

I emailed them today asking if it had been shipped, delivery time etc. gonna try ringing them tomorrow but from what i've read online they're a nightmare to get through to and are terrible at replying to emails.

One german forum said it took 12 days for delivery from when he ordered. They use DHL but whereas Amazon/DHL takes 2 days these guys take far longer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,525 ✭✭✭DanGerMus

yeah to be honest it's becoming a bit of a nightmare. i got an email saying that some of the stuff i ordered was out of stock but they never said which stuff. they also mention that theyve been inundated with orders and this is why they're having such difficulty. But i do think it will come eventually. And the saving i'm making is massive ,1400quid, so i'll wait a while and hope for the best not in too much of a rush for the tv anyway. Has anyone heard anything i should really worry about like people that paid for stuff but nvr received.

To answer your question it hasnt arrived and communication is well attrociously poor.

that company has made a serious fcuk up. the 46" W series (which u bought) is insanely cheap. but the 46" s series is WAAAAAY over priced. i think they mixed up the price between them two sets.

anyway, you got a savage deal!

think i'll try repeated emails aswell.

So how did you get on with your TV?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,525 ✭✭✭DanGerMus

still havent recieved it. i got the dvd player and a few other small bits that i ordered on wednesday. but still no word on the TV. at least i know the do actually deliver stuff lol. Just gotta play the waiting game. like i sed before normally i would have cancelled by now but the saving i'm making is massive. i wonder if RONIN got his yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭Ronin2009

No still nothing, but i would have been AMAZED if it had iof arrived before the weekend like they had said. but come tomorrow i start the emails again asked for specific shippings times and tracking number if possible.
did your package come registered and to be signed for? if yes then there is no reason they can not provide us with this number when shipping :S
ahwell we'll see if they get back to us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,525 ✭✭✭DanGerMus

i honestly dont know if it had to be signed for. Cos noone was home and the Postman just left it on the back step. He's my neighbour so i didnt complain to much LOL. But looks like it came through AN Post although i'll verify that later if i can.

    Hey Guys

quick Update, after tryin and trying to get a phone number for them that works i eventually found there hotline (on the attached documents on your receipt email duhh :S) they have it as 0651-0651-4936250-2 but if you actaully ring 004965149362502 after a wait on hold listening to some german recording over and over you will get to speak a german lady with pretty good english.

now i asked about my order placed on the 12th and told on the 16th by email it would be shipped in the next couple of days.
She told me there has been a problem with this TV and they are expecting them back in on Friday next week 11th and they will then call / email about delivery, she also said they don't provide tracking numbers.

well at least now i know i can get through to them and speak to someone i don't really mind as i'm in no hurry for the TV and for 2080 it's still worth the wait.

let me know if you guys are told anything different

    Paul

i think i know what their problem is. the realised they messed up the price. it has gone up on the site. I only hope they dont force me to go through the rigmarole of quoteing my consumer rights to get my TV.

I think I’m going to cancel my order for this. Unless someone want to take it off my hands for 2300 when it arrives.
I have a mate in Canada I get all my electronics from usually, but I didn't think of him regards to a TV due to shipping cost and difficulty. but i chanced my arm and sent him a mail today and he said he could get me the new KDL 52XBR3 FOR $3850 including shipping

    http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/2%20INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?CategoryName=tv_flatpanel_46to52&ProductSKU=KDL52XBR3&TabName=specs&var2=

And these I believe are the start of the new 2007 Bravia models. Either way I think I would be mad not to get it, that only about €2900.

But again if someone wants me to keep the old order and take it off my hands please let me know as soon as possible

    Paul

Well i got them on the phone today finally and it seems there were some stock issues with a dvd drive i ordered that was holding the rest of the order back. So i've cancelled them from the order and they've assured me they'll be sending the TV out asap. So fingers crossed. it'll be 8-10 days they say but probably closer to 2 weeks. i'll check back with them tomorrow to see if they've processed it as i had to resend some details to them. I'll keep you posted.

oh my dear god. After months of anitcipation, waiting and agony, finally today she has arrived. She's a beaut still tinkering with the settings for picture but tis great.the color is amazing and it's so bright a lil too bright so i turned it down a notch. Cant wait to feed her with some high def then she'll really shine. so easy to setup btw one stand 4 screws handy doesnt wieght nearly as much as the old 36in phillips(crt) we have. just have to sit back and wait for the rugby now lol.
Now a need some advice though, certain skintones seem a little odd and in certain lighting faces that are moving seem to.. well drag and float a bit is this the ghosting that i've heard about?

Have a wade through this thread. It's for the 40W but applies equally to the 46.
