I've seen the term "Wii Stars" in a couple of places - anyone give me a brief outline of what they are. Quick google didn't give me much info only that they're related to Wii Points and that you can get Wii Points when you buy games.

    Anymore got some more info?

    Many thanks in advance.

when you buy a nintendo game or console you get star points which you can add to your nintendo account on the website.

there is a stars catalogue with some crappy stuff you can get and at some point we will be able to exchange these points for wii points :D .

Ah.. i see. Cheers for that!

That reminds me, i tried to register my Wii recently for the extended warranty and it wouldn't accept the serial number of it. Must try again.

Bah.. still won't accept my Wii serial number. Sent an e-mail to Nintendo about it! :(

Are you supposed to get those Nintendo VIP Pin #'s with every game? Never got one with 'Rayman: Raving Rabbids'. Still, 1455 points ain't bad i suppose!

It's generally Nintendo IP only - so Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc. on top of hardware and some (non-Wii I think) official accessories.

1455 stars probably wont get you much, games are usually about 5000 stars or more, theirs never anything good in the stars catalogue, I have 12000 stars, I've been collecting them since I got my gamecube, I hope I can trade them in for Wii points soon.

I think there was mention of it a while back where 8000 star points is equal to 2000 wii points which is a bit of a rip-off considering some games are worth 5000 star points with a store value of €45 and 2000 wii points is worth €20-€25. :(

Things are looking up for the Stars-To-Wii-Points conversion - there's a message in the Star Catalogue :
    Dear Nintendo Fan,
Last Friday we have been running internal tests in the Stars Catalogue on our website. Unfortunately, because of a mistake during the testing phase, the Wii Points item accidentally appeared on the website between 4pm and 8pm. We want to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

This item is not available in the stars catalogue and the price of 789 stars used during the testing period was entirely random. We understand that this may have caused a disappointment, so please accept our apologies. Thank you for your understanding.

    Best Regards,
    Your Nintendo team.

So at least they're working on it. No idea how many points 789 stars netted you, mind... .

It was a big screw up by a worker in Germany. It was for 1000 stars. Loads of people bought it and were given the choice to either have their stars refunded or to be given a 1000 points card. Most people went for the stars knowing that theyd probably cost dearer when they really come out.

I dont get the Americans complaining about their NoA deals.. >_> I thought the NoA was better.. Nintendo is playing us off.

This seems to be almost It's 4 stars = 1 Wii Point, which is crap.

There are 4 cards available, 100 Wii points for 400 stars, 300 points for 1200 stars, 500 points for 2000 stars and 1000 points for 4000 stars.

Early this morning they only had the 100 points available, but had >200 of them. I thought I could get a few of them, I managed fine the first time but you seem to be limited to one card a day.

Fairly crap, so if you buy 8 games (of the ones with stars) you get to download one free NES game, brutal.

Anyone know how long they've been completely stocked out of points cards? Only tallied up my reg numbers from GC games and stuff yesterday to discover they had nothing left.
