I downloaded the basic limewire last night but today when I click on the icon on the desktop or the icon on the start menu, it doesnt let me into it. so i have to uninstall it, reinstall it and then everything that i downloaded last night is still there. does anyone know anything about this?

    thanks

What's the problem, it's working now?

My guess is you started it, and the process started, but the GUI didn't kick in. Every time you clicked it again, it didn't start because the process already existed. Did you try restarting last night?

I would recommend that you get rid of the "Basic Limewire" package as it's riddled with nasty stuff.

The Pro version is clean once you be careful as to what you download with it.

There is a breakaway from limewire called "Frostwire" which is clean too and is exactly like Limewire Pro but it's free. You should go get this one http://www.frostwire.com/

    :)

To be very honest, if you insist on using the gnutella network (and you really really shouldn't be, it's full of nasty things), then get Phex. It's open source, so you know it's clean. Available on sourceforge.

I think frostwire's open source too. Wouldn't use gnutella myself either though.

What would you recommend so? I've used Limewire on and off, don't particularly like it myself, looking for something better...

This (not great at the start) thread has degenerated into sh*t now. Closed. :/
