Very limited live poker experience

I've played quite a lot of online games and some live poker games at home with some pals - never anything to hectic but feel i've played well, disciplined and have generally profited from it.

I'm anxious to try some live poker though starting with local games with smaller buy-ins.

First, can anyone give me advice about tournament play for someone new to live poker?

Second, can you break down the meaning of some of the jargon?
My understanding of rebuy periods, freezeouts etc is limited as I mostly just play Sit and Go online....

Last thing I want to do is look like a complete fish in front of those who play live as much as I play online!

My strategy is to not try to be everyone's best friend but pretty much keep the mouth shut and be seen as a the solid player I see myself as.

    Jargon:
Freezeout: You pay an initial entry fee and that's all. When your chips are gone, so are you.

Rebuy: Up to a certain blind level you can reenter the tournament if you lose your chips. When the rebuy period ends depends on the cardroom tourney, but it's usually around 4 blind levels in Dublin.

Double chance - You pay an initial entry fee and that's all. However, you have the option to take an additional stack of chips after the first hand. Or you can use this additional stack as a rebuy if you lose your first stack.

Generally it's best to pay attention to what's going on at the table and act accordingly.

If you're raising, make sure that you announce it, and include the amount you're raising to/by.
