Anyone know of any Irish online stores (that preferably accept Laser) which sell optical cable? Need a good metre or 2 of it.

No shops around Sligo seem to be selling it.. useless town!

    Or if anyone's selling? ;)

Might try GameStop but don't think they have them. Tried a couple of AV and electrical stores around town but most of them hadn't a notion of what i was talking about!

Creative DDTS-100 decoder to a XBOX Advanced Scart Cable.

Have it hooked up already but due to the very short length of cable i have, i need to pull the XBOX outta the cabinet every time i wanna play a DVD.

Does either take coaxial? I think that might be easier to get

    May also be cheaper

Nope, the scart-cable i have only accepts optical.

And besides, the single coaxial port i have on my decoder is in use by my Argosys hard-drive. Have 3 optical inputs though.

Do you get digital sound out of the argosy? Dont think my dvix stuff has surround sound!

    Have you tried richersounds?

I had a thread in HE about this and there was a few links in there but for the life of me I cant find it now

    Neither accept Laser though.

Yeah.. DivX files typically just have MP3 audio but sound very good all the same.

But i ripped my copy of Sin City to it - sounded amazing! In the final scenes, i could hear the creaking of wooden floors as clear as day through the speakers (wasn't DTS sound but pretty sure it was DD5.1).

Forgot about that. How about by a V3 card with your laser card? Probably a pain in the hole though.

Yeah, will probably have a look around EBay and decide on something there as they're very pricey on RicherSounds. Been looking into getting the AIB Visa Card so this may be the perfect opportunity.

Registered with Radionics - they only accept American Express, Visa, Mastercard. Probably EBay is the way to go.

Cheers for the help again kearnsr. Much appreciated

How about Maplin, might be able to get it mail order, or from the Dublin store.

You could also try B&Q! if there is one local, they stock 1.5m and 2.5m optical cables in the electronics dept - I think around €10 for 1.5m and €20 for the 2.5m or something like that, I bought a 1.5m cable for my NTL to Sony Amp and works perfectly - it's no-name packaging (B&Q's own brand I presume). In fact the cable comes with a nice holder attached for the optical plugs you've pulled out of the devices in case you ever want to stop using it.

Cheers for that Q. Think i might just order one off one of the cheaper sellers on EBay though. €45 is a bit more than i was willing to spend to be honest.

    Thanks for it anyways.
