Has anyone got any experience with any voip adaptors which support this protocol? I just wanted to see was it possible for the modem in a Sky box to dial out using it. I know however a regular fax machine will work with one of these units.

T.38 is specifically designed to work with fax not modems which is what Sky use. What you need to do is ensure the ATA (and your VoIP provider) work in "clear mode" thats full G.711 without echo cancellation turned on and also without silence suppression turned on. These might be configurable on your ATA but you need to make sure your service provider doesn't over ride the settings on your ATA.
