How would I go about finding vacancies around the cork area?

    Thanks..

you could try dropping cvs into internet cafes in cork?

grand job if you want to sit on your ass all day making coffee for people. judging by the fact your hear looking for information on how to find vacancies without checking any recruitment sites / dropping cvs in to places then id say it would suit you down to the ground....

what course were u doing in college?

:p Seriously OP, I think you need to put a bit more effort into it. Drop CVs in to all the cafes around, regardless if they need staff or not.

op, do you have any experience working with computer admin / networking etc etc or even basic troubleshooting?

to be honest people with basic computer skills are two a penny out there....

im not trying to put you down or anything but without any sort of basic N / A + or MSCE qualification you dont stand getting a job in any sort of IT job even working in an internet cafe.

you would more than likely get more money working in your local tesco or xtravision.

my advise to you if you plan on going back to college next year to do computer science go out and get yourself some java / c++ / c# ebooks and learn object oriented programming over the next couple of months before going back to college to do "programming". this will not only give you an indication of whether you will like it or not but will also put you streets ahead of the rest of your class!

id recommend trying c++ first and see if you can get the grasp of that. if you can get yourself proficient in c++ then all other programming languages will be a breeze!

I'm guessing the main reasons students cant get the cushy netcafe jobs is because they only commit to 10 hours a week type thing.

If he's going for full time he has the advantage.

And yeah pick up some books and do some work etc.

Thanks for the feedback guys but I think you got the wrong impression from my initial post.. I was really only looking for feedback on this kind of work.

I don't know what I meant by "how would find a vacancy" damn obvious really, stupid me.

I have lots of experience in troubleshooting windows and that but don't hold a qualification.. I have a small bit of networking experience but I tend to pick up all this stuff really easily..

Also, I have started learning java in the last week or two. I said I may aswell try and get something out of the next few months other than a !!! :D
