Got my PS3 at launch and have not yet been able to get it working online... The system seems to be detecting my wireless router but it just keeps failing the connection test at the end of the network connection setup. The IP Address passes the test though... I called up eircom and got as much info as I could and keyed in the ip address, dns and such correctly...

This is really frustrating, I havent been able to go online at all yet... Can I get some urgent help plz!

    Thanks.

Does your router have any sort of security? It may be blocked by that.

you dont need to do all of that .... all you need is the WEP key ....

have you chosen wireless over LAN first?

Its exactly the same set up as PSP .... i think there is a tutorial on here somewhere

I have tried entering my WEP key, which I recieved of eircom, but it's like 40 digits and the box doesnt allow for that many  Maybe I got the wrong pw?

    And yes I choose wireless.

@ syco - No I don't have any security right now.

your wep key should be about 24 digits i think ... when i get home i'll post a link where you can go visit your router, and find the correct key

You need to go into your router configuration and assign the wep key

You can choose a passphrase that generates a wep key

I assigned my own wep key using the eircom utility

Or else turn off the security altogether

A WEP password can either be

    13 digits or 26 digits

I went here and I see no sign of a WEP key or any option to make one... All my other info is there though...

I can't get onto this page http://broadbandsupport.eircom.net/S.../WEBCGI.EXE/,/ it just blanks.

I am getting someone out to set everything up for me soon but it would be good if I did not have to and sort it out myself.

    Any further help much appreciated.

[EDIT] - Right well I found a walkthrough for setting up a WEP key on the eircom site and just discovered something is not right.... I know how to set a WEP key now but when I went to select wireless (one of the stages to get to the WEP key set-up) I saw no option of wireless. Come to think of it my router page does not mention the word wireless at all anywhere! WTF! I am using my laptop wirelessly right now...

What model number is the router? When you go to 192.168.1.254 can you not see this on the menu on the left?

I've no idea how you set up a WEP as my computer literate made one up for me when i got b/band but i was having the same problem as you when i bought the PS3 but when i entered the WEP key it started working so its definitly that. I know this doesn't help much.

    It says Cayman model 3341...

And I don't get that eircom router page. I have the original netopia account display.. Could this be the problem?
