Who is offering the best deal ??

Do HVM offer much back in terms of credit with their points option ?
I know GameStop give you a load of vouchers but they are all quite small..

Went into HMV grafton street myself today in the end... was told they had "loads" left...

The seem to have 4 bundles going at the moment

My Dad said Tesco had truck loads out on display.
He usually goes to Tesco Clarehall (near baldoyle) or Clearwater (Finglas), I didn't ask which one.

Safe to say there are buckets of the things out there, sales on launch day sucked according to the managers I spoke to, bummer!
Gamestops bundle, Resistance and Motorstorm plus machine for €700 seems like the best.

I was in Smyths in Naas on Saturday and there were 5 or 6 I could see above the counter, they could have had more in the back.

All the stores that I was in on Saturday in Limerick had lots on stock. It seems it's the same all over so I doubt there would be a problem picking one up.

It seems Tesco are giving a free game with the machine which is a cool deal.

Any Tescos in Southside Dublin selling them? I'd imagine it's only the big shops, but I can't think of any near me

    I'm in Dublin 12 btw

Ok .. keep the good value spotting going... I am in dublin but my brother is in killarney so that deal looks like one of the best so far !

To me as someone who wants a media center nearly more than a games console the box works out as good value so I'm defo in the market for one..

Just looking for the best price now !

For the laugh I checked argos in limerick last week or the week before. Had 29 left. Not exactly racing off the shelves!

For the laugh I went to tescos today, I lost count of how many tins of beans they have just sitting on the shelf! I wouldn't wanna be a Heinz shareholder right now.

I don't have one yet, but i think Sony have the right idea having the stock in the shops, not like finding a needle in a haystack like when i was trying to get my wii.

I'd say figures are still going ok on weekly sales.

Sony exceeded demand, I give them credit for that, rather than them only supplying the EU with 500,000 consoles and boasting a sell out.
There was even talk of Nintendo actually delaying Wii shipments to further hype the illusions of a constant sell out.It may look bad, but apparently they have broken records for console sales, and they still have consoles on shelves, they win both ways.

That was only in the UK afaik.

I didn't know we were being specific on where, but as far as I know, I remember reading that in the EU in general it did very well, I also remember reading it broke records in Australia, and the top ten games in the charts over there the top ten were all PS3 titles, followed by PS2 games. For such an expensive console, launching in March, you have to admit it did well, come Christmas things should pick up a lot.

That's ok, Heinz rely on volume sales, while you may not have noticed but the PS3 is more of a luxury item. Heinz also aren't getting rid of the smaller tins to maximise profit on family size tins. They also actually make a profit on their sales. TBH I don't know where you were going there.

I thought it was surprising in comparison to the launches of the wii and the 360, not to mention the delayed launch due to production delays. Large stocks on the shelf in the US and now Europe just points that Sony may have overestimated demand for the ps3. Naught to do with beans.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 978 ✭✭✭AceCard Jones

How can they over estimate the demand? It's not like those consoles on the shelves now will never be bought, Sony could have released 10 million consoles and we would have stores bursting at the seems with PS3 consoles, but they will all sell eventually, and Sony having plenty of stock in stores isn't a bad thing.True Steviec's comment about beans is moot, but you saying that there is no demand for the PS3 may also be wrong, it's also just as likely Sony's strong shipping numbers that could be keeping stores having lots of PS3's.
I would still reserve judgment until Christmas, and/or the first price drop.

They overestimated demand becuase there is large amounts of stock sitting on shelves. Although maybe in this case it's more the retaillers who overestimated with their order. Have sony already made a sale by getting it into a store? I assume they get money when the distributors order the consoles, rather then when a console is purchased.

I'm sure once it settles down in six months to a year and people stop worrying about price drops and just buy it we'll see a pickup in sales.
