    Could he be doing it for a relation? Leave it in the will and and when he passes away the relation gets a £200k house minus inheritance tax.

    well, he dies in 5 minutes, and the life insurance pays the thing off - job done - his relations get a free house

    I'd say the life assurance policy is costing more each month than the mortgage

    Yeah exactly, our life assurance is €25 due to us being so young and that's on about half his mortgage too.....his must be through the roof.
