    Pride's sale nearing
Sakakibara announces he will step down

What until now was considered a strong possibility is ready to become a reality. In news published on the front page of the site, Sherdog.com announces the current president of Pride, Nobuyuki Sakakibara, has informed the directors of the Japanese organization in Los Angeles that he is stepping down from his command. The decision is part of the accord reached for the sale of Pride by the Fertitta brothers, current owners of the UFC.

According to the article by Dave Meltzer, of the site wrestlingobserver.com, only a few small details need to be ironed out to conclude the sale and that is why the contract has not yet been signed. What is more, both Pride and the UFC will be run separate of each other, however, with the possibility of and exchange of fighters between the two entities.

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

It's still not confirmed. Dana White said nothing is concrete. I wouldn't hold my breath just yet.

Yeah the worst thing though is they will get rid of stomps and soccer kicks even in Japan

Why in Japan? I thought it was only the Nevada state athletic commision said no to stomps. If they remove stomps et al from pride will they allow elbows?

That's nowhere near the worst thing. Stomps and soccer kicks are far too brutal anyways.

You don't have to read the thread if you don't like it.

I hope to goodness they don't ban head stomps and soccer kicks, I enjoy watching shogun play a bit of footy.

As brutal as they sound in theory, I think that at the professional level they fight at in pride, soccer kicks and stomps, rarely seriously injure anyone. They don't even happen that often either!
