I was just wondering how long (on average) does it take for a standard 10 year passport to be recieved by post? The application was posted yesterday.

    Replies greatly appreciated.

If you used Passport Express in the Post Office, yesterday I overheard a postmistress tell a customer who asked the same thing 10-12 days.
Don't know how long if you just posted it in.

    What about non-passport express?

The passport office's website says 3-4 weeks for normal post. You might be better off to ring them though and get confirmation of that.

Dont rely on the post office, get onto the passport office everyday to put pressure on them.

I applied for one at the start January (not a peak time) with the passport express service (paid extra for this service), on the website it says within 10 working days, great I thought, I asked again when I was at the post office doing the application and they said yeah it is 10 working days.

They have a tracking service on their website which doesnt work BTW.

I waited for 2 weeks (14 days-10 working days), no sign of it, then called after 3 weeks, they said they only received it yesterday, I said it was supposed to be 10 working days and the guy got snotty with me and said it is 10 working days from when they recieve it at the passport office.
So it would be another 9 working days till I receive it he said.
    What a load of bull!!!!!!!!
I said I gave it to the post office (in malahide) 3 weeks ago and why havent they received it till now (in passport office balbriggan), he said the postal service is nothing to do with them. I asked why they are operating a passport express service with anpost then? He then hung up!!!!!

2 1/2 weeks later I get a letter from them telling me that my face in the photos is not centre enough and that I have to send 2 new ones with a garda signature on them and then they will send me my passport.
I then got the photos and drove to balbriggan to make sure they got there, when I got there they said they cant accept them like that and that I would have to post them in. AAAARRRGGHHHHH!!!!!
I then proceeded to flip out and explained my story, I was lucky that the girl felt sorry for me because she said they usually dont accept them like that and if it was anyone else they wouldnt, I caught her in a good mood she said. (lucky me!)

I got my passport eventually at the end of february!!!

    Phew!!

    Good ol' Ireland!!!!
