PS3 won't accept my user accaount?

I registered my Playstation Network account from old PS2 to new PS3 account online with my home pc as PS3 was not letting me, PS3 was telling me my details were incorrect.
Anyway the PS3 still tells me my details are incorrect even though i can log in no problem via PC.
Any advice appreciated?
