    Hello,

Just wondering if it is necessary to periodically flush hot water cylinders due to sediment buildup at the bottom, which we have a lot of in our area. How would I go about doing this?

The answer is a resounding no. The hot water is fed from the top of the cylinder. any sediment would settle at the bottom. Never flushed the cylinder in me ma's house EVER.

I dunno, I noticed a while ago that there was awful lot of crud at the bottom of the attic tank, like silt or something... basically accumulated muck. After a while that'll also build up at the bottom of our immersion and could block up the system.
