Tiger Wiids driving me mad!! Help!

Games like TW '07 are what the Wii is made for and what I bought one for but it's driving me mad after only two days.

For some reason, the Wii figures halfway through my backswing that I've started my swing, resulting in a sliced half strength shot. Can anyone suggest whether this is a remote issue or a motion sensor bar issue? I'm presuming that, seeing as it all works 70% of the time, it's deffo not a s/w problem and is down to me or my wii setup.

Batteries are new. Sensor bar is on top of and flush with a 21" LCD telly that I'm standing about 6 feet away from (well not now). I've tried playing facing the telly and side on and can't see either method being any better than the other.

    Anyone?

Tiger Woods doesn't go on your actual swing, its something to do with whatever stage th animation is at when it senses the fore swing

I haven't played TW but I noticed a couple of my mates had this problem with Wii Sports Golf and couldn't really figure out what they were doing wrong. I showed them how I was taking a shot and they attempted to replicate this but still had the problem. I even took a shot with the remote they were using and didn't have the problem myself. I did notice that for one of them though that he appeared to be trying to take his shots too quickly, i.e. the remote/club wasn't at the default vertical position (whatever the correct Golfing term for it is) before he swung for his shot. Probably not too helpful but that's all I can suggest:(

The sensor bar is only used for recognising the pointer so I doubt that's an issue. In Wiisports golf it's the accelorators (gyroscopes??) that map the movement.

Try slowing down you're backswing. I had that trouble in wii sports golf when putting but I just ignored the backswing and essentially pushed the ball and it works fine. That said others putting seemed fine. Bit of an art rather than science I think

The controls are driving me crazy too.

Putting is dodgy and driving is difficult to get right after the training stage.

I found using one hand was fairly accurate

It doesn't actually replicate the full swing. You need to keep an eye on the screen before starting to come out of the backswing.Annoying, but it solves the problem of only getting a 60% swing!

One handed does seem to be best (ooh err missus!) but IMO detracts from the whole point of the game, to swing like you had a club in your hand.

Agree that putting can be tricky too. No matter how long I spend practice putting there only seems to be three or four distances available. Maybe we're expecting too much from €250 worth of motion sensing technology.

So....they have made a golf game for the wii that causes frustration for those that play - forces them to seek out help with their swings - and makes them consider doing strange and awkard things just to improve their game.

    Sounds pretty accurate to me.

I was thinking of buying this and was wondering what you guys think of it. Its a pain in the hole not been able to rent games as that is what I would have done with this. Can you put spin on the ball and how does it work. Cheers.

when you hit z if your club moves before you start your back swing, even just a small bit then your swing will be off. you need to hold the wimote in the starting postion and watch the game, if it stays still then go for it, if not unhold the z button. also holding your swing at before starting your downward swing improves your accruacy.

    hope i explained that ok!

I played a bit of this over the weekend (with the wiimote swing).... all birdies, pars and bogies, no problem. Control system works very very well.

I have had the same problem for a while myself but its usually on the putting i move the wiimote back and the shot is taken before i start my forward swing, really fustrating when it happens on the longer puts when you're try to get a little power into it, I've noticed that if you keep the remote vertical it doesn't happen as much but it does still occur every now and then.

Was interested in this game myself, but sounds a bit too much like golf for me.

Was really looking forward to this game for ages but the mixed reviews kept me away. Considering it again now though.

Can anyone tell me exactly how power is measured. Its not by how fast you swing but measured by how long you wait at the top of your swing. Is that correct ?

I was going to buy tiger woods 07 and Madden 07 but I am going to wait for the 2008 versions hopefully all the bugs will be gone by then and EA will have perfected the wii mote controls.

I ordered Tiger Woods from Blah last Saturday and it arrived yesterday (€48, Play have it for €46 but it's out of stock). I never had any interest in a Golf game before I played Wii Sports Golf and then I played this about 4 weeks ago and loved it.

Anyway, I think the problem some of you might be having is (as I attempted to describe above) what I noticed my bro in law was doing yesterday. He kept hitting the ball on the backswing and I noticed eachtime his club had already begun to automatically move backwards as soon as he pressed the B button; make sure that your club is perfectly vertical & beside the ball before begining your backswing. So watch when you are taking your shot and let go of B to reset the club if it happens.

Also with regards to keeping your shot straight on long drives; what I found was if I curled my wrists at the top of the back swing and then (as the game advises) kept the remote as level/vertical as possible and close to my body throughout the rest of the forward swing I can then get a pretty decent & straight drive.

Either way I'd recommend the game so far having played it for about 4-5 hours and I can see myself playing it a lot. I have a mate who plays golf regularly but "doesn't play video games" and he loved Wii Sports Golf (I won a tenner off him a few weeks ago after beating him over 9 holes:D ) He can't wait to play Tiger now after I told him about it (he was almost drooling:p).
